About One Piece Connections
One Piece Connections is inspired by the New York Times Connections puzzle but built entirely around One Piece characters and lore. Each day you are presented with 16 characters and must group them into four hidden categories of four. The categories are always thematic — sharing the same crew, the same power type, the same origin, or a more abstract narrative connection from the series.
The puzzle is designed to be solvable with deep One Piece knowledge but challenging even for veteran fans. Category difficulty is colour-coded: yellow puzzles use clear, well-known groupings like major Yonko crew members; purple puzzles use subtle connections that require knowledge of specific arcs, Devil Fruit sub-types, or minor character details.
Connections refreshes every 24 hours. Your score, number of attempts, and hint usage are tracked on your profile. The game rewards methodical thinking over guessing — one wrong selection wastes a life and provides no information about which character broke the group.
Strategy: How to Solve Every Puzzle
Start by scanning all 16 characters and noting any obvious clusters. Three characters from the same well-known crew is a strong signal — but look for the fourth carefully before committing. The puzzle frequently places one character who shares a crew affiliation but belongs to a different category, precisely to catch confident first guesses.
Solve the easiest category first and eliminate those four characters. The remaining 12 become easier to evaluate because the most obvious groupings are gone, forcing you to look at secondary attributes. Work your way up from yellow to purple difficulty.
If you have solved three categories confidently, commit to the fourth by elimination — do not second-guess it. The puzzle is designed so that exactly four characters remain after correctly solving the first three groups.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many lives do I have?
You start with 5 hearts. Each wrong group selection costs one heart. Reaching zero hearts ends the puzzle and reveals the solutions.
What do hints reveal?
Hints reveal the title of one category, which describes the shared trait. You have two hints available per puzzle. Use them on the purple (hardest) category if you are stuck.
Are characters from filler arcs included?
The puzzle primarily uses manga-canon characters. Occasionally well-known anime-original characters appear, but the groupings are always based on canon lore connections.
Can the same character appear two days in a row?
No. Each puzzle uses a unique set of characters and is designed to avoid repeating the same groupings within a short rotation period.
